Arthritis can be such a painful nuisance. It is an illness that usually causes inflammation of the joints, but in other instances, it can also cause pain in other organs, such as the eyes, chest, and skin.
What causes arthritis in the first place? Most of the time, there are several factors involved. However, we have identified the elements than can influence the flare up of this illness. They are genetics, age, weight, past injuries, occupational hazards, sports, allergies, and infection. Age is usually what causes arthritis because it is irreversible with our cartilage becoming more brittle and unable to repair itself. Weight can also be a major factor because the burden the joints have to bear can do some serious damage to them. It is what causes arthritis in this case. Occupational hazards as a factor for arthritis can be proven by the percentage of assembly-line and construction workers who suffer from it. In general, any damage to the joint can be pinned down as what causes arthritis.
Diet plays a major role in dealing with arthritis. For example, an arthritis diet should not include foods that have high uric acid levels. Nonetheless, there are many offenders in an arthritis diet that it may seem as though everything is prohibited, but moderation is really the key factor. The following are guidelines for an effective arthritis diet:
- Eat different nutritious foods. A good arthritis diet has all four basic food groups well represented.
- Eat to maintain the ideal weight. This means to eat enough. The excess baggage can easily be what causes arthritis for some people.
- Eat enough starch and fiber. Starch boosts energy, while fiber aids in eliminating toxicity from our body, which when accumulated in the joints, is what causes arthritis.
- Avoid bad fat and bad cholesterol foods. Fat and cholesterol lead to an overweight body.
- Avoid too much sugar. An arthritis diet rich in sugar does not have a lot of nutrition and calories.
- Avoid too much sodium. Salt can lead to bloating because of water retention.
- Avoid alcohol. It depletes the body of natural nutrients and can possibly have a negative interaction with medication for arthritis.
There is a difference between what causes arthritis and what causes arthritis to flare up. Perhaps age is not something you can fight, but arthritic pain can be dealt with by following the correct arthritis diet and exercising to keep those joints working.
